February Newsletter
As we say goodbye to January and move into February, it feels like spring is just around the corner. James Hirons are delighted to let you know some of the things we have been up to over the last few weeks.
Spring has sprung!!
The talented residents at James Hirons have been preparing some beautiful, floral wall art ready to decorate the conservatory.

Battle of the Sexes
A competitive battle‑of‑the‑sexes dominoes match took place on 16 January, with the ladies emerging victorious.

Birthday Celebrations
We were thrilled to welcome Amy on 16th January when we celebrated one of our residents birthdays. Family and friends enjoyed a slice of cake and a sing song. Many thanks to Amy Price.

Getting things growing
The green fingered residents were out at the weekend busy preparing the pots for spring, each resident has a plant for their own room, courtesy of Marks and Spencer’s who are fantastic at supporting the local community.

Our crafty residents have been busy once again!
James Hirons Care Home is always filled with love and kindness, but there’s something extra special in the air as Valentine’s Day approaches. Our residents have worked wonderfully hard to create beautiful handmade garlands, now proudly adorning the walls throughout the home in celebration of February 14th.
Their creativity and care have truly helped to spread the Valentine’s spirit across our community.

Bonding squares for babies
We are always in awe of our residents and the photo below show the Bonding Squares that were urgently requested by the Liverpool Women’s Hospital for supplies .
They are in pairs, one for the premature baby and one for the mum, they wear them against their skin and the baby will recognise the smell of their mum when they come out of the incubator, the smell of the baby helps the mum’s milk come in, so it really helps them bond together
After the first 60 completed below are sent to Liverpool, we will be donating to local baby units in Warwickshire. We are so excited to be part of this wonderful initiative!!
Also, if you have spare wool to help us with this task, please just drop it in xx

Donations from the local community
A huge thank you to everyone who kindly donated tea sets to the home following our recent Facebook appeal.
We were truly overwhelmed by your generosity and received an abundance of beautiful crockery, which will be put to wonderful use and greatly enjoyed by our residents. Your support means so much to us all.
Birthday celebrations
It is always a joy to celebrate our residents special days and we were thrilled to welcome Frank to the home who helped us mark one such occasion. As usual, our wonderful chef made a delicious cake which was shared by family and friends.
