Help and advice from James Hirons Care Home

Guidance on choosing the right level of care
Deciding whether to use day care, respite care, or full residential support can challenge families. We’re here to give you the help and advice you need. Our team works closely with families and partner organisations, such as Age UK, to assess individual needs. We welcome visits to the home with no obligation, and sometimes a short respite stay can provide a gentle introduction for residents, helping them feel comfortable and at home.

Financial help and advice
Understanding care costs is often one of the most stressful aspects of choosing a care home. Fees at James Hirons range from £1,300 to £1,714 per week depending on the type of care and room size. As a not-for-profit care home, we focus on the wellbeing of our residents rather than profit. Our team is happy to provide guidance on costs, explain what is included, and discuss financial support options where needed. Find out how to get in touch here.

Tailored care and daily life
Care at James Hirons is personalised to meet each resident’s preferences and needs. Our high-quality catering allows residents to enjoy meals in our communal dining area or privately in their rooms. A full weekly programme of activities ensures engagement and social interaction, including arts and crafts, outings in our minibus, and visits from entertainers. Residents can also relax in quiet spaces like our conservatories or award-winning gardens. Families are encouraged to participate in meals and activities, ensuring loved ones feel fully supported.

Experienced and caring staff
Our dedicated team has years of experience, ensuring residents receive consistent and professional care. Families frequently praise our staff for their compassion and reliability, reflected in excellent reviews on carehome.co.uk and personal letters available in our office. Our high staff retention rate means residents benefit from familiar, friendly faces.

Help and advice on the admission process
Arranging care is straightforward with our guidance. Start by contacting the Home Management team with any initial queries or for advice. Following a visit to the home and an assessment of care needs, our Home Manager will help create a personalised care plan. Once agreed, a contract is drawn up and move-in dates are set. Families are welcome at any time, helping residents feel connected and supported.
